Orange County, NY – The Orange County Partnership is pleased to announce that $500,000 has been awarded through the FAST NY program to advance pre-development efforts at the Roseton site in the Town of Newburgh. This collaborative achievement comes as a result of the vision of the Orange County Partnership, which led the charge in securing the grant to position Orange County as a premier location for high-tech manufacturing, while our partners at the Orange County IDA seamlessly submitted the application. The Roseton site, home to a power plant on the Hudson River, has seen interest from a variety of high-tech industry sectors over the past few years.
The FAST NY program, first introduced by Governor Hochul in February 2022, is designed to prepare and develop shovel-ready sites across New York State, making them more attractive to major employers in high-growth industries. Maureen Halahan, President & CEO of the Orange County Partnership said, “We thank Governor Hochul and Empire State Development for their continued commitment to positioning New York for economic development success. This is the second FAST NY Grant Award our county has received this year, and we're not slowing down."
“The FAST NY program is a game-changer for economic development, and this funding will help Orange County continue to be a competitive destination for high-tech industries,” said Conor Eckert, Senior Vice President of the Orange County Partnership. “By securing this grant, we are taking a major step toward unlocking the potential of the Roseton Development site, which has unmatched assets, including direct access to power transmission, rail, heavy infrastructure, and maritime assets on the Hudson River. This investment strengthens our ability to attract advanced technology companies that will create good-paying jobs for our region."
Bill Fioravanti, Executive Director of the Orange County IDA said, "We are proud to have teamed up with the Orange County Partnership on this important initiative. This FAST NY award will help further our efforts to bring new shovel-ready sites online."
The $500,000 grant for the Roseton Development site will fund critical pre-development work, including a Generic Environmental Impact Statement, State Environmental Quality Review, and necessary engineering and site design efforts. These studies will expedite the site's development and position it as a prime location for companies seeking to invest in cutting-edge manufacturing and renewable energy projects.
The Orange County Partnership would like to thank NYS Governor Kathy Hochul; ESD Commissioner, Hope Knight; Orange County Executive, Steve Neuhaus; The Orange County IDA; and Town of Newburgh Supervisor, Gil Piaquadio and Deputy Supervisor, Scott Manley.
The Orange County Partnership continues to play a vital role in ensuring the county remains a hub for economic growth and job creation. By securing critical funding and advocating for strategic investments, the Partnership is positioning Orange County as a leading destination for high-tech manufacturing and advanced technology industries. This year, the Orange County Partnership has led the efforts to secure over $1 million in site development-related funding from Empire State Development and NYSERDA.
