CITY OF NEWBURGH – Hudson Valley Lighting's plans to expand into a larger facility in the City of Newburgh received a boost Monday when federal officials announced $2.9 million in federal funding for infrastructure upgrades.

The Economic Development Agency is providing the funding to the city for sewer and water system improvements at 5 Scobie Drive, a brownfield site that underwent an extensive environmental cleanup.

Hudson Valley Lighting, which is a finalist for a national award, employs 180 people. Construction of a new headquarters for the company will create between 30 and 60 temporary jobs.

“With this much-needed funding, this site will now have the potential to create and retain at least 230 manufacturing jobs,” Sen. Charles Schumer said.
