After four years of planning and preparation, Newburgh Brewing Company's entrepreneurs Christopher Basso, Charlie Benedict and Paul Halayko announced the opening of their 24,000 SF brewing operation in the summer of 2012. Local contractors, including Orange County Sheet Metal (heating, cooling and steam), McGoey Hauser and Edsall (engineers), Rider, Weiner and Frankel (legal services) and William A. Smith and Son (insurance) worked with Newburgh Brewing Company to renovate the historic industrial building located at 88 South Colden Street located in the City of Newburgh. Twenty new jobs were created and $3,200,000 in capital investment was gained. The Newburgh Brewing Company's craft beers are available at bars and restaurants throughout the Hudson Valley. In June, the company opened a public taproom. |

Carlisle Companies breaks ground on a 360,000 SF facility |
|
In February, Hunter Panels, a division of Carlisle Companies (NYSE:CSL), made the decision to relocate its operations to Orange County and the Hudson Valley Crossing site.
Hunter Panels will be manufacturing rigid foam insulation roofing materials for the commercial and industrial markets at its new Orange County plant. The new 360,000- square foot facility will be built on approximately 30 acres.
Tom Timmerman, Vice-President of Operations for Hunter Panels said the company hopes to be operational in its new manufacturing facility by the first quarter of 2013. He indicated that the Town of Hamptonburgh and other government and economic development officials “were very cooperative in meeting a very aggressive timetable.”
The total capital investment for the project, including land acquisition, is approximately $27 million. Initially, 70-90 workers will staff the facility. Both Hunter Panels and Hudson Valley Crossing have received incentives from the Orange County Industrial Development Agency. |

Organic Company to Open Space in New Windsor |
|
Supported by a $6.2 million package from the Empire State Development Corporation, Continental Organics, a business specializing in the production of organic produce, fish and fertilizer, will invest $49.8 million toward a five-year project that includes the construction of a 900,000 square foot facility in New Windsor. The facility will create 120 new jobs. Continental Organics received IDA benefits and support.
For the past year, Continental Organics has been operating out of the offices of the Orange County Business Accelerator, an arm of the Orange County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) charged with fostering start-up businesses. Continental Organics received IDA benefits and support for the project. |

Two Frassetto Properties, Two New Attractions |
|
A Kingston solar design and manufacturing firm expanded operations by moving its distribution center into new quarters in the Town of Walkill. SunWize Technologies has leased 63,800 square feet of space at 45 Turner Drive for a Distribution Center that will create 40-50 new jobs. The company plans to have the center operational by late summer and will use it to distribute product to the eastern portions of the Untied States, Canada and Latin America.
Also new to Orange County is Medora Snacks, the maker and distributor of organic snacks. Eighty employees will occupy 79 Industrial Place in the Town of Walkill. Medora Snacks largest client is Jet Blue Airways, a major partner of Stewart International Airport. |

President Container, one of the premier companies in the field of corrugated products and point-of-purchase displays, is the newest attraction to be added to the Town of Wallkill manufacturing cluster. Principal Larry Grossbard commented, “After a two-year search for the perfect location throughout the Northeast, we feel that Maureen Halahan and her team brought exactly what we were looking for in a prime location. There are so many advantages in terms of market, infrastructure and transportation that we know we will be here for a long time.” President Container invested $48 million in infrastructure renovations to its 522,000 square foot facility resulting in the creation of 192 new jobs. |
